Today, I asked David if he looks like me or Brian. He looked at me like I was confused and said:
"I look like me, Mom."
At least he knows who he is.

David asked me if he could have a glass of milk; what kind of mom would I be if I said "no" to that request? I asked him to get the milk out of the fridge so I could poor him a glass. It's a fairly new gallon, and we keep it on the door. He tried for about a minute, then said:
"I need help. My muscles are huge, but the milk's muscles are huger huge."
No dillusions of grandeur from this kid.

Brian and David just got back from Walmart, and david was so excited to show me what they bought: a gallon of milk, a small bag of chips, and a candy bar. Sharing in his enthusiasm, I commented on his prize purchases:
"Wow, cool! Dad got you spicy cheese chips and a Twix!"
He replied, "No, mom. We just got one Twik. Me and dad are going to share."
I love this kid.

David and I were discussing the nativity earlier today, and the Baby Jesus introduction naturally led right in to the true reason we celebrate Christmas. Being the always thoughtful child that he is, David asked me:
"Are you going to make Jesus' birthday cake?"
You know, I think we will. This could be a sweet tradition in the making here!

David has been sleeping on the floor with Jaxon for the past few days. This morning's conversation went something like this:
Me: "Did you sleep well last night, David?"
David: "Yes."
Me: "Did you sleep on the floor with Jaxon again?"
David: "Yes."
Me: "You know you have a big cozy bed to sleep in. Why don't you sleep in it?"
David: "Because Jaxon helps me have good dreams. I think I need a dog bed like his so I can sleep in it next to Jaxon. That's a good idea, huh Mom?"
Me: "Ask Dad."

David is usually very good about doing his chores: putting his laundry away and feeding the dog. For this, he gets an "allowance" of $1 every 2 weeks (we're taking advantage of the cheap labor while we can!)
Today, our conversation went something like this:
Me: "Hey, David, I have some more laundry for you to put away."
David: "No thanks, Mom."
Since when do we get to say "no thanks" to laundry, and why wasn't I informed?!?!
